Joseph Fronsee – the Artist
It all started in Mont Saint Guilbert, Belgium in 1862, when Francois-Joseph
Fronsee, my Great-Great-Grandfather, with his wife and 7 children, departed
for America. Thanks to him, and then Felix, John and Emanuel, I am here
today in America having the wonderful luxury of painting whatever my inner-inspiration
directs me to paint.
As an artist, I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity
to have painted all over the world, including, Tuscany and Portovenere,
Italy; Giverney, Aix in Provence and Arles, France; Rothenburg
ob der Tauber, Germany; Stockholm, Sweden; Killarney, Ireland;
Mont Saint Guilbert, Belgium and all over the United States and
Canada, including Hawaii.
I paint primarily acrylics, but also dabble with gouache and
oils, but the drying time of oils frustrates me too much. I prefer
the quicker drying time of acrylics.
What paintings do I love the most? Well, there is my series of
Christmas cards, with an original painting for each year. And,
of course, my Surreal golf course paintings, which started with "Sky
Golf." But, my truly most favorites are my "Young Girl in
White" series, which started with "The
Highest Roses," and includes "The Special Bouquet," and
my "Tuscany Color" series, which started with "Portovenere
Sunset."
I live and paint in Weddington, NC., where I have a wonderful
art studio and a gallery/house full of paintings.
ps - it is always important to remember one's beginnings. This was
my first painting ever...... and this is a special note of
thanks to my two biggest art fans, Dave & Julie, for all their
support and encouragement through the years.
